Should i call my clinic about high blood pressure readings now or wait?

I’ve been trying to manage my high blood pressure with diet and exercise, but my last two readings at the pharmacy were still higher than my doctor wants. I’m not sure if I should call the clinic now or wait for my scheduled check-up in three months.

I get the worry. If two readings have stayed high I’d call the clinic sooner rather than later. If you have headaches or chest tightness that’s a sign to seek care now. Otherwise give them a quick call and ask if you should come in early or keep a log and bring it to your next visit.

I tried sticking to diet and workouts, but the pharmacy checks kept showing high numbers. I bought a home BP cuff, started logging every morning for a week, and then showed the chart to the nurse. They told me to come in before the three months was up and adjust the plan.

Maybe it’s not just pressure at all. A lot of mine jumped when I’m standing in a pharmacy line and anxious. I started taking three readings in a row, lying down in between, and averaging them. It was less dramatic, but it didn’t solve the question of what’s causing it.

I’d lean toward calling, but I’m not sure if that’s just my fear of meds talking. Do you have any symptoms or a trend you’re worried about at home?
