Should I change settings to get my HP printer connected to wifi on my laptop?

I’m trying to get my old HP printer to work wirelessly with my new laptop, but the setup keeps failing halfway through. I’ve run the troubleshooter from the manufacturer’s website, but it still won’t connect to my home Wi-Fi network. I’m not sure if the issue is with the printer’s wireless card, my router settings, or something else entirely.

Yeah that setup dance can be fiddly. Mine finally blinked alive after I unplugged the printer for a minute and rebooted both devices. It showed up on the Wi-Fi and the driver install then moved along.

Sometimes the problem isn’t the card but the printer pulling from the wrong SSID even when it looks solid. I saw that with an old HP too—strong signal, nothing in the print queue.

Did you try using the printer on a different network or a hotspot to see if it behaves there?

I’ve also drifted into the weeds with this—like chasing a firmware update that never changes anything—only to realize I was missing a simple fresh set of checks and a moment to breathe might have helped.
