Should I check transmission fluid if my car shudders when accelerating?
#1
I was merging onto the highway yesterday and my car started to shudder when I tried to accelerate, almost like it was struggling to get up to speed. I’m worried it might be a sign my transmission fluid needs changing, but I’m not sure if that’s something I should check myself or take straight to a mechanic.

That sounds rough. I had something like that a while back when I was merging onto the highway and the car shuddered as I pressed the gas. I pulled over and treated it as a red flag and booked a visit to the shop.

I did try to check the transmission fluid myself and I kept thinking I must have done it wrong. It was warm and the dipstick read weirdly once or twice, so I worried more than I should have.

I wonder if the shudder is the real problem or just a symptom of something else like a misfire or a sensor issue. It could be a lot of small things adding up?

Last resort I would take it to a shop for a quick diagnostic before any full service. The goal is to know if there is a simple fix.
