Should i commit to learning blender for character modeling over zbrush?

I’m trying to decide if I should fully commit to learning Blender for my character modeling, but I keep hitting a wall with its sculpting workflow compared to ZBrush. The retopology tools feel powerful once you get the mesh ready, but getting it to that clean state is where I struggle.

I started with Blender for character sculpture and the wall you hit is real; the thing that trips me up more than the sculpt tool is getting a clean base mesh.

ZBrush feels smoother for heavy sculpting, but the moment you need to retopologize, the workflow can feel like a slog.

I tried a split workflow: sculpt in one tool, retopo in another, and I kept losing reference and not trusting the topology I ended up with.

Do you think the problem is the topology or something bigger like planning the topology before sculpting?

I built a tiny practice rig and kept it grouped by quads; it helped when I kept edge loops consistent, but it was a lot of small tweaks.

Some days I just give up and work on a different character; consistency is hard and progress can be slow.

I remember a time I spent two weeks trying to clean up a base mesh; I learned to do less sculpting and more planning, and that rough blockiness finally lined up.
