Should i focus on a realistic financial plan for a small business?
#1
I’ve been trying to break down my big goal of starting a small business into manageable steps, but I keep stalling out when I hit the stage of creating a detailed financial projection. I’m not sure if I’m overcomplicating it or if I’m missing some key piece of information that makes the whole plan feel shaky.

I tried to rough out the numbers part of the plan and it stalled me. I started with a simple monthly budget and a rough revenue idea, and the rest felt like a maze.

I found that using a range for revenue and a tiny cost budget kept the fear away. It was enough to see if the idea even fits the cash flow, and I could tweak as I learned more.

Could it be that the real blocker is not the math but whether the business idea itself is clear enough to support real plans?

I tried to use a template and go from there but it felt rigid. I stopped and just noted the top three costs and a rough break even point and kept moving.
