Should I hold or sell my stock after strong earnings and new fundamentals?

I’m trying to decide whether to sell a stock that’s hit my initial price target, but the company’s recent earnings show strong momentum. I’m stuck between locking in the gain or holding for more, and I’m not sure how to weigh the new fundamentals against my original plan.

I have been there before. The target was hit and earnings momentum looks solid but plans are not guarantees. I would consider selling a partial slice to lock in gains while keeping some exposure if the uptrend still fits.

Chasing momentum into a fresh high felt exciting but I learned to respect pullbacks. I would want some proof of durable demand beyond one quarter before riding further.

To be honest I am not sure which signal to trust more either. I would keep a loose trailing stop or set a small cap on upside risk and see how the stock behaves around key levels.

If you had to pick one signal and ignore the other which would you trust more the price action or the fundamental beat?

I once stuck with the plan and watched the stock run another 20 percent that sting taught me the plan should be flexible and not rigid.

I use position sizing so I am not over exposed even if I decide to hold I know the size of the risk matters more than the move.

And sometimes I drift off topic thinking about another name I own but the core issue stays what makes you sure that the new fundamentals are real and not noise in a big market move
