Should I include the Parent Trap remake as a comfort movie?

I can't decide if the 1998 version of "The Parent Trap" should be on my list of favorite comfort movies. I know the original has its charm, but something about the remake just feels like a warm blanket to me, even if it's not a cinematic masterpiece.

That remake really does feel like a warm blanket on a cold night, even if it isn’t trying to win awards. The bright colors, goofy schemes, and twin energy land as pure comfort for me.

I tried to put it on a comfort list once, but I kept swapping it for something with a bit more bite. It’s cozy, sure, but not the one I reach for when I want a guaranteed mood lift.

The original does have more texture, yet the remake knows how to press the nostalgia button without getting heavy about it. It lands as comfort, but it isn’t the anchor of my list.

I watched it with my sister last winter and we kept laughing at the little schemes. It’s not deep, but it feels like a safe, familiar joke you can recite along.

I’ve also had moments where I paused and wondered if the problem is really comfort or just a memory I’m chasing, which made me hesitant about putting it on the list.

Do you think comfort is nostalgia or something more immediate, a mood you slip into in the moment?
