Should i invest in telematics for my small delivery fleet?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth investing in a dedicated telematics system for my small fleet of five delivery vans. The upfront cost is significant, and I’m not sure if the visibility into real-time location and engine diagnostics will actually improve my daily routing efficiency enough to justify it.

We tried a telematics system for our five vans and the upfront cost felt big. After a few months the live location and engine alerts helped us shave a few minutes here and there but the savings were small overall.

Maybe the real issue is not the tracking but wait times and how the routes are built?

We tested a midrange telematics package for two months and tracked on time delivery and fuel per mile. The changes were small because driver habits did not change much so we dropped it.
