Should i mute or unfollow friends who flood me with fundraiser links?

I’ve noticed I’m starting to resent friends who constantly send me viral fundraiser links, even for causes I believe in. It feels like my social feed has become an endless stream of moral obligations, and I just want to disconnect without feeling like a bad person.

I get the feeling this isn’t about you being selfish. I’ve felt it too, that every ping about a fundraiser turns into a tiny obligation badge I’m supposed to wear. I started muting certain friends for a while and I turned off push alerts for charity posts. It wasn’t perfect, I still cared, but it took the edge off and I slept a bit better.

One time I replied with thanks, then ignored it. A week later I still felt bad for not sharing. So I stopped engaging, muted the posts, and just scrolled past.

Do you think the real problem is the feed or just the guilt you attach to not sharing?

I remember a time I unfollowed a celebrity because their charity posts kept popping up, and I wandered into a rabbit hole about algorithms. Then I came back to the same issue in a different form: I wanted to care without feeling like I owed it to everyone. Maybe it’s not the posts, maybe it’s the idea of obligation itself.
