Should I play Chrono Trigger blind on my first run or follow a guide?

I just got a copy of Chrono Trigger for my SNES, but I’m torn on how to play it. Part of me wants to just dive in blind and see where the story takes me, but another part worries I’ll miss some of the multiple endings if I don’t follow a guide. How did you all handle your first playthrough?

I jumped in blind and let the world push me around. I wandered from town to town and chased the moment not the map. The endings surprised me more than I expected and the ride felt earned not explained.

I tried a guide a friend shared and I kept glancing at it but still felt the game lived on its own. I found a few endings but the thrill came from the little serendipities not from ticking boxes.

I keep thinking maybe the problem is not the endings but the pace. I blink and a big plot beat passes while I am scratching my head about where to go next. I kept stopping to look at the clock and that broke the mood.

One of us wonders if the problem is not the endings but the push and pull of paths. Do you want to aim for multiple endings or just ride the story without chasing them?
