Should i precondition my ev battery before a dc fast charge in cold weather?

I’m trying to decide if I should precondition the battery on my EV before a DC fast charge when the outside temperature is only around 50°F. My car’s manual suggests it, but I’m not sure if the extra energy used to warm the pack is worth the maybe slightly faster charging speed on a cool day.

I tried warming the pack one cold morning around 50F. It used a chunk of energy, and the charger did kick into a higher rate a bit earlier, but the overall difference was only a few minutes on the session. Not sure it's worth it unless you’re chasing the fastest possible top-up.

Most days I skip it at 50F. The energy cost isn’t nothing, but the time saved isn’t dramatic if I’m just topping up before a short drive.

Do you think the real issue is charger availability, or is there a meaningful gain from warming the pack even here?

I once left it on by accident and realized the extra energy barely paid for itself in time saved. Could be my route choice, but I felt a slight sting in the wallet for no clear payoff.
