Should I rank the Parent Trap remake as a comfort movie?

I can't decide if the 1998 version of "The Parent Trap" deserves a spot on my list of top comfort movies. It’s a remake, so part of me feels like it shouldn't rank above more original films, but I've probably seen it two dozen times and it never fails to put me in a better mood.

I’ve watched it a dozen times and the bright, goofy mood still lands every single time. It’s a remake, but the comfort for me comes from the cast and the splashy kid swap premise, not from trying to reinvent the wheel.

Cozy in a reliable way, like slipping into a familiar blanket. It doesn’t demand new ideas, just lands the feel good button and lets your brain switch off for a while.

I keep thinking maybe The Parent Trap is borrowing too much from the original, yet I also remember the ease of slipping into that sunny world and letting the day lift itself.

Do you think the real issue is nostalgia versus originality, or is it something else you’re chasing when you pick a comfort movie?
