Should I renew my monthly transit pass or just pay-as-you-go for trips?

I'm trying to decide if I should renew my monthly transit pass this time. My office is only requiring two in-person days a week now, and I'm not sure if paying the flat rate is still worth it compared to just loading my card with pay-as-you-go fares for those trips and the occasional weekend bus ride.

I did the math last year when I dropped to two in-person days. I kept the monthly pass for a couple of months, but I noticed most weeks didn't hit the cap and I was paying for days I didn't ride. I switched to pay-as-you-go and it felt cheaper overall, plus I could use the card for weekend trips without worrying about wasted rides.

I held onto the pass for the convenience, but after tracking trips I realized the two days plus weekend rides averaged out to just a bit more than pay-as-you-go, so the fixed price started to feel like a burden.

Do you expect two days a week to stay reliable? If yes, check your past six months and see if your rides would beat the flat-rate cost.

I tried mixing: a couple weekday rides, then weekends when I felt like it; it got messy and I ended up paying more in confusion than fare.
