Should I see a dermatologist for elbow patches that may be psoriasis?
#1
I’ve been dealing with these persistent, slightly raised red patches on my elbows for months now, and my regular moisturizer does nothing for them. I’m starting to wonder if this could be a form of psoriasis, but I’m not sure if that’s something a dermatologist needs to officially diagnose.

I had something similar on my elbows for months too. It was a stubborn red patch that wouldn’t go away with regular lotion and only softened a little with thicker creams.

A dermatologist looked at mine and they said it could be a few different things, not just dry skin, and that sometimes a medicated cream is needed if it’s persistent. I didn’t love the wait for a follow up, but it felt like the right next step.

Have you noticed any itching, burning, or flaking with that patch?

One time I switched to a fragrance free cleanser and gave the patch more time with an occlusive layer at night, and I still wasn’t sure if it helped, but it felt worth trying before more steps.
