Should I see a neurologist for vertigo-like dizzy spells?
#1
I’ve been getting these intense, sudden rushes of dizziness that feel like the room is spinning for a few seconds, especially when I turn over in bed or look up. My doctor mentioned it could be related to tiny crystals in my inner ear, but I’m wondering if this is something a neurologist should look into instead of an ENT.

I’ve had something similar. turning over in bed would spike the dizziness and a clinician said it might be BPPV from loose crystals. ENT did the tests and a few sessions of the Epley maneuver helped, the episodes got rarer, though they didn’t vanish entirely.

I kept thinking maybe a neurology check was needed, but most doctors I talked to said that this pattern with fast spins on position changes usually points to the inner ear first. If you ever notice weakness, trouble speaking, or vision changes, that would push me to push for a neuro eval sooner rather than later.

I tried keeping a simple diary and watching hydration and caffeine, and sometimes the dizziness eased when I cut back late in the day. It felt like a web of triggers rather than a single cause.

One thing I keep in mind is to watch for red flags before chasing a specialist. Do you have headaches or numbness along with the dizziness?
