Should I start meds for borderline high blood pressure after lifestyle changes?
#1
I’ve been trying to get my blood pressure under control with diet and walking, but my last reading was still borderline high. My doctor mentioned possibly starting a low-dose medication, but I’m hesitant because I’m worried about side effects and committing to a daily pill long-term. I’m curious if others have managed to avoid medication at this stage, or if starting it was simpler than they expected.

i tried more than a month of walking and cutting salt and processed foods and the numbers moved a little but not enough to call it solved. some days were 142 over 92 and others were around 128 over 84 and the rest stayed in between.

my buddy went on a very low dose and barely noticed side effects yet the readings settled around 125 over 80 after a couple of weeks and that felt surprisingly calm.

i wonder if the real issue is stress or sleep and maybe the pill is not the main thing but i keep flipping between worry about daily meds and fear of not fixing the root cause is that the wrong lens to look through?

i also tried longer walks and a lighter dinner plus a simple weekly log but the numbers kept swinging and i ended up feeling unsure about the best next step.
