Should i switch from my main agent to a new one for the ranked split?

I’m trying to decide if I should stick with my main agent or start grinding a new one for the upcoming ranked split, but I’m worried about my team’s composition suffering while I learn. Has anyone else felt locked into their comfort pick even when the meta shifts?

I stuck with my main last season even when the meta swung around. It felt cozy, but our drafts got awkward and I felt like I was carrying more early game gaps than I should.

I tried a new agent for a few weeks to shake things up. It was chaos at first, timing felt off, and the team hesitated to pull the trigger. After about 12 games I found a rhythm and the comp looked better on paper, even if it meant late nights.

Sometimes I think the issue isn't the pick at all but how we talk about it in champ select. We spent more time counter-picking than aligning on our plan, and it showed in the mid game.

I had a run where I forced a new pick into every game and it clearly starved our macro. We lost a bunch of early objectives. Then I cooled off, learned a couple of flexible picks, and things felt steadier.

We experimented with a rotating roster of two carries and it helped practice, but in ranked it asked for too many mechanical tweaks from the team.

Is the real issue the team's communication and draft flow rather than the actual champion you play?
