Should i switch to a low-profile keyboard or get a wrist rest for wrist pain?

I’ve been using the same mechanical keyboard for years, but lately I’ve noticed my wrists getting sore during long gaming sessions. I’m wondering if switching to a low-profile keyboard with different switches would help, or if I should just look into a better wrist rest instead.

I swapped to a low profile keyboard last year. The shorter height did flatten the wrist angle a bit and the switches felt lighter, but after a few hours my wrists still started to protest.

I went with a big gel wrist rest and kept the same board. That helped a lot more than I expected, plus I started taking 5 minute breaks every hour.

Sometimes I wonder if the problem isn’t the keyboard at all but the chair height and monitor tilt. Do you think those things matter as much as the board? I try to sit up straighter and still notice wrists.

I did try a split/tented setup with a low profile and a different switch family, but I kept going back to my old layout after a week because it felt odd in game timing. Not sure if I missed something.
