Should I switch to a tactile keyboard for fps games, or stick with membrane?

I’ve been using a standard membrane keyboard for years, but I just tried a friend’s mechanical one and the difference in feel was huge. I’m wondering if switching to a tactile switch keyboard would be worth it for mostly playing FPS games, or if it would feel too slow compared to what I’m used to.

I swapped from a membrane to a keyboard with tactile switches last year. The feedback is real and it makes rapid taps feel decisive, which helps with flicks and clutches in moments before a burst. It’s not just a louder click; there’s a palpable landing every time you press.

I tried a lighter actuation model for a weekend. The first hour I felt slow as I re-tuned my timing, but after a couple hours I could press and release with less thinking. My aim felt steadier, but the numbers didn’t move much.

Do you think the real issue is the keyboard, or your aim training lately?

I drifted to tinker with tiny setup changes—different chair height, different mouse pad—thinking the surface was the bottleneck. It wasn’t, or at least not in a clean way, and I kept circling back to the keyboard as the persistent variable in the room.
