Should I switch to a wireless mouse for competitive fps without latency issues?

I’m trying to decide if I should upgrade my mouse to a wireless model for competitive FPS games. I’m worried about latency or the battery dying at a bad time, but my cord keeps catching on the edge of my mousepad.

Got a wireless model last year. In games like quick taps and sprinting you barely notice a difference when you set the polling rate high and keep calibration steady. Battery life for me is fine through a few long sessions; I just top it off after playing. Having no cord snags feels weird at first but nice.

I did have a moment where the battery died mid-match once. It sucked. Now I keep a charged spare at the desk and I check the battery every couple of hours during long practice. It changes how you plan breaks.

The wired setup used to catch on the edge of the pad, especially when the mat is small. I swapped to a bigger pad and routed the cord behind the mouse so it never yanks. It solved most of the snagging, but I still notice a little drag when I yank quickly.

Do you actually notice anything like real latency in matches, or is the fear of a dead battery just louder in your head? Maybe try a weekend with wireless and see how you feel, or test a simple distraction like a longer pad edge to see if it’s the real issue.
