Should I switch to a wireless mouse for FPS flicks without lag?

I’m trying to decide if I should upgrade my current mouse to a wireless model, but I’m worried about the sensor performance for fast FPS flicks. My wired one feels instant, but the cable drag is starting to annoy me during long sessions.

I switched to wireless last year after the cable got annoying during long sessions. With a decent 2.4 GHz dongle the sensor felt snappy and I didn't notice input lag in quick flicks. The drag-free feeling is worth it, even when I sprint through bursts.

One thing I did notice was battery checks. If you procrastinate on charging, you get a mid play session ping. Not a disaster, but it breaks flow. I kept a charger handy and used a quick charge when possible.

Do you actually need that ultra low latency for your flicks, or could a wireless with a good dongle work for you?

I drifted off topic for a bit and thought about the surface. I found that a smooth desk mat helped more than I expected. The tracking felt steadier in both wired and wireless, but the drag was the real pain point before I switched.
