Should i switch to an upper/lower split four days a week?

I’ve been doing a three-day full-body split for about six months, but I’m starting to feel like my progress on the main lifts has really stalled. I’m wondering if switching to an upper/lower split four days a week would be better for getting past this plateau, since it allows more focus per session. I’m just not sure if the extra day is worth reshuffling my entire routine.

I did a four day upper lower after about six months on a three day full body. The idea of fresher lifts felt good, but the weekly volume stayed similar and the numbers didn’t explode. I saw a tiny bump in pressing volume for a couple weeks, then progress stalled again. Not sure if the extra day was worth rearranging life for it.

Four days sounded neat on paper, but life kept sneaking in. I ended up missing sessions and the main lifts didn’t move much month after month. I added more accessory work and mirrored a plan, but the plateau stayed. Maybe it was me, not the split.

Maybe the real limiter is technique or CNS fatigue, not the split. If you’re sticking to heavier triples or doubles, small tweaks to progression rate or microloading might help more than the schedule. I tried that and it helped a bit, but then stall came back.

Also the gym was loud during certain hours and that made focus feel flaky. I started going earlier and skipped the jam-packed rush times. Not directly about the split, but it changed how hard I could push. Still, the main lifts stalled when I tried to push them hard.
