Should I switch to GOG for cloud saves and no-drm games?
#1
I'm trying to decide if I should finally move my main library over to GOG, but I keep hesitating because of the lack of a universal cloud save feature. I love the idea of DRM-free games, but I'm so used to just picking up where I left off on any device with other launchers.

I flirted with moving my main library to GOG because DRM free sounds great, but the lack of a universal cloud save is a real nag. I used to just pick up where I left off on any device with the other launcher, and the drift between saves now feels clunky.

I tried to push through anyway and kept a second launcher for cloud saves; save files sit in different folders and it’s easy to forget to back them up, which slows down any actual migration.

Is the real problem maybe not cloud saves but the habit of expecting cross device progress to just work everywhere? sometimes I catch myself overestimating how easy it should be.

One concrete thing I did was run a test of a few games with the new launcher and watched the saves not transfer; I ended up keeping the original library intact and calling it a partial win before dropping the move.
