Should I take the bus or the light rail for a smoother commute?

I’m trying to plan my commute to a new job downtown, and I’m completely stuck between taking the bus or using the light rail. The bus stop is closer to my apartment, but the train’s schedule seems more reliable during the morning rush. I just can’t decide which one would actually get me there on time more consistently without a huge hassle.

The bus stop is closer, but the light rail felt more predictable on most mornings. When the train was on time I walked in with a bit of breathing room; when the bus acted up I found myself sprinting for a connection.

I kept a two week log of arrivals. Rail showed up close to schedule most days, while the bus had occasional delays that threw off my whole routine.

Maybe the bigger issue isn’t which gets me there on time but whether I should tweak my whole morning routine. I tried shifting alarm times and still felt rushed some days.

One afternoon I tried biking the first leg to downtown; the nicer weather made it feel fast, but on other days the hills and wind slowed me down, and I ended up back at rail thinking, ok maybe this isn’t simpler.

Weather, track work, and occasional maintenance sometimes wreck the plan; I’m not sure I’m solving the real problem yet.
