Should i upgrade my gtx 1660 super now or wait for the next gen gpus?

I’m trying to decide if I should upgrade my GTX 1660 Super now or wait for the next generation of cards. My main issue is that I can’t quite hit a stable 60 fps at 1440p in newer titles without turning settings way down, which is starting to bug me. I’m just not sure if the performance jump from current mid-range options is worth the cost right now.

I hear you. I chased stable 60fps at 1440p for a while with a midrange card and found that most titles were fine once I tuned a couple of settings, but a few newer games still felt rough. I started paying attention to bottlenecks and learned that the GPU wasn't always the weak link, which was annoying.

I did a small test last month. In a newer title at 1440p, I ran medium settings and stayed around 55–60fps; cranking to high dropped it to about 40–50fps in the busy scenes. The upgrade was noticeable but not the slam-dunk jump you’d hope for, especially considering price.

Are you okay with waiting for 6 to 12 months if that means a bigger jump or better efficiency, or do you want something you can buy now that’s good enough most of the time?

Maybe the problem isn’t the GPU after all. I found a few games feel CPU-bound or RAM-bound at 1440p, and a driver tune or clearing background tasks helped a bit before I even thought about upgrading.
