Should i upgrade to a tilt-sensitive pen tablet for better ZBrush detail?

I’ve been trying to get better at sculpting fine details in ZBrush, and I keep hearing that a pen tablet with good tilt sensitivity is essential. My old one doesn’t have that feature, and I can feel the limitation when trying to control my brush strokes for things like hair or cloth folds. I’m just not sure if upgrading will actually make a noticeable difference in my workflow or if it’s more of a nice-to-have.

I upgraded to a tablet with tilt sensitivity and it actually changed how I work in ZBrush. Hair and cloth folds feel more natural when I tilt the pen to change brush width and stroke direction; I can drag a long stroke and taper it by angle instead of constantly switching brushes.

I stuck with my old tablet for a while and kept chasing tiny gains by fiddling with brush alpha and stroke smoothing. The difference felt real only after I practiced a lot and accepted that some details come from how you drag, not just the hardware.

I bought a pen with angle sensitivity and spent a week trying to map the angle to brush orientation, but I kept fighting lag and jitter. In the end I went back to simple pressure and a stable pencil brush; the upgrade didn't fix the thing I needed.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m chasing the wrong bottleneck—maybe the issue is your viewport scale or how you light the sculpture, not just the input device. Still, when I loosen the angle a bit and focus on silhouette first, then microdetails, I find the tablet helps a little.
