Should I use my ev's scheduled departure daily or only when I need a charge?

I’m trying to figure out if I should be using my EV’s scheduled departure feature every day, even when I don’t absolutely need a full charge by a specific time. My garage is attached and I worry about the battery sitting at 100% for hours, but I also don’t want to miss out on the benefits of a preconditioned cabin and battery.

I do the departure schedule most mornings since my garage is attached. I wake up to a warm cabin and a ready-to-drive battery, and yes it does nudge the charge down a bit before the day starts. I’m not sure what the long term effect is, but I figure the car's management system is doing its job.

I tried it for a week and found the extra energy draw wasn’t worth it because I wasn’t leaving on a preplanned trip. The cabin heat came on but I didn’t notice a noticeable benefit, and the range took a small hit.

Do you really gain anything by preconditioning if you’re plugged in, or is the battery management going to do what it wants regardless?

I’m torn. Some mornings I skip it and regret later when it’s cold, other days I use it and wonder if I should just let the car do its thing. The truth is I’m not sure I’ve got a clear answer.
