Should i use my EV's scheduled departure every morning or just plug in at home?

I’m trying to figure out if I should be using my EV’s scheduled departure feature every single morning, or if that’s actually harder on the battery than just plugging in when I get home and letting it charge right away. My daily commute only uses about 30%, so it’s not about needing a full battery by morning, but I heard that keeping the battery at a high state of charge for longer periods might not be ideal.

I actually run my EV on the scheduled departure every morning. The car preconditions and the cabin is ready when I get in. I plug in at night and it tops up to a set limit not all the way to full. It feels steady and my daily drive stays the same. In practice I do not notice a big hit to the battery.

I tried not using the schedule for a while and just plugged in when I got home. I charged to eighty percent and kept the car mostly in that range. I did not see a dramatic difference in daily range, but I began to worry about keeping the battery at high state of charge. It felt okay but the worry stayed.

Is the real problem the battery health or the daily need for range?

Sometimes I set the schedule and then think about how cold mornings change the math. If it is cold the car uses more energy to heat up and I end up leaving with less range even if I kept SOC high. It makes me wonder if I should just plug in and forget the schedule on days when the weather is rough.
