Should I watch the Oscars live or just catch the highlights?

I’m trying to decide if I should watch the Oscars live this year or just catch the highlights. I’ve done the full live broadcast before and honestly, the runtime is a real commitment, especially when you’re just waiting for the categories you care about.

I did the Oscars live last year and that clock kept dragging. By the time they announced the categories I cared about I’d already checked out.

DVR it and fast-forward through the stuff you don’t care about, then set a timer for the live moments you actually want.

Watching highlights is clean, but you miss the speeches, the crowd energy, and little backstage moments that stick with you.

If you’ve got a group to riff with or a snack routine, a live watch can feel like a little event even when the year feels weird.

I tried to plan it with a time block last year and ended up just catching the big wins later, which saved hours and still scratched the itch.

Do you think you’ll care about the wins more than the spectacle?
