Should I worry about a retinal issue with a dark spot in central vision?
#1
I read a lot of anime episode reviews, especially for shows I'm currently watching. Some anime episode reviews really enhance my viewing experience while others don't add much.

When you read or write anime episode reviews, what elements do you think are most important? Should anime episode reviews focus more on analysis, reactions, or something else? What makes you want to read someone's anime episode reviews regularly?

I’ve been noticing a persistent, small dark spot in the central vision of my right eye for about two weeks now. It’s like a tiny smudge that doesn’t go away when I blink, and it makes reading text on that side a bit difficult. I’m wondering if this is something that warrants a more urgent check for a retinal issue.

I had something similar last year, a small dark spot in the center that stuck around for a couple weeks. It felt concerning, but it ended up being not urgent and I still booked an eye check just in case.

Two weeks with a central vision issue is enough to prompt a quick eye check, especially if it affects reading.

From what I learned, these spots can be floaters or tiny changes in the macula. A dilated exam helped me understand it even when the change seemed minor.

I tried a simple at home grid to look for distortion. It wasn’t dramatic for me, but I still set up a real appointment because it was central.

If you start seeing flashes, a curtain across the field, or lots of new floaters, that could point to a retina problem so go to urgent care.

Maybe it isn’t the retina at all. It could be lighting, fatigue, or a dry eye thing. Hard to tell without a clinician.

One quick question does the spot move when you move your eyes or stay in place?
