Should I worry about growing pains at night for my 3-year-old?
#1
My three-year-old has been waking up screaming about his legs at night, and our pediatrician mentioned it could be growing pains. It’s so hard to see him in that much discomfort, and I’m never sure if a warm bath or gentle massage is actually helping or if I should be more concerned.

I get how hard it is to see him go through that. We started with a warm bath and a gentle leg massage, and sometimes he settles a bit after that. We added a tiny pre bed stretch and a comfy blanket so his legs stay relaxed. Not a miracle fix, but it bought us a calmer few minutes most nights.

I’ve been through this too and I’m not sure if we’re sure about what’s going on. The pediatrician said it can be growth-related, but I kept a simple log for a couple of weeks: time of night, what he did during the day, how long the pain lasted. Nothing dramatic showed up, yet I still worry there’s something else behind it.

I once wandered down a rabbit hole about restless nights and kid brains. We tried not to overreact and just kept the routine, but some evenings I swear he woke up screaming the moment we turned the light off. It felt endless for a while, and then random nights were quiet.

Could this be sleep disruption more than leg pain?
