Should I worry about high LDL with low triglycerides on a lipid panel?
#1
I just got my lipid panel results back and my LDL cholesterol is higher than it should be, but my triglycerides are surprisingly low. I’m trying to understand how these two numbers interact, since I always thought they moved together. My doctor mentioned it might be a pattern worth watching but didn’t go into much detail.

I went through something similar. My doctor said patterns matter more than any single number. I had a high bad cholesterol reading but my triglycerides stayed low. I redid the test after a few weeks and the combo was still there, which felt odd and vague.

From talking with folks and reading a bit, those two numbers can move on different pathways. Genetics can give you a high bad cholesterol reading even if triglycerides are flat. Diet can push triglycerides up and leave other numbers alone. Thyroid or certain meds can flip the script too. I started tracking other markers on my own, like overall cholesterol panels, but I didn't dive deep into it.

Do you have other risk factors like family history or thyroid issues? Just wondering if this pattern might be part of a bigger picture.

Honestly, I’m not sure what it means for you right now. I’d push for a repeat panel and maybe a chat with a lipid specialist to sanity-check how worried you should be. In the meantime, I focus on staying active and watching overall weight, not chasing a single reading.
