Should we switch our fleet to biodiesel, or are there hidden issues?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it to switch our small fleet from standard diesel to a biodiesel blend. The paperwork and finding a consistent local supplier for the fuel seems like a hassle, and I’m not sure if the potential maintenance issues with older engines outweigh the cost savings we’ve been quoted.

I’m in a similar boat and tried a biodiesel blend last year in two or three vans. The maintenance part surprised me a bit—more frequent fuel filters, and some hoses looked a little soft after a few months. The price delta didn’t cover those extra hiccups, so we pulled back.

Paperwork and finding a steady local supplier killed any dream of a smooth rollout. We spent weeks chasing quotes, then some weeks waiting on delivery windows. We ended up sticking with diesel and waiting to see if the economics change.

Are you sure the real hurdle is the fuel itself and not getting a reliable supply chain lined up and the admin headache? It feels like the hard part is coordinating tanks and contacts more than the chemistry.
