How did Fnatic's controller hold Lotus site with that utility?

I just watched the VCT Masters grand finals and I'm honestly confused about how Fnatic's controller player was able to hold that one site on Lotus almost single-handedly every round. Their utility usage seemed so different from how I play the same agent.

I watched that too and felt the same confusion. It looked like he stayed behind the initial smoke wall and just kept winning the close fights, almost every round. On Lotus that kind of hold can stall a push for ages if you keep denying the sightlines and your teammates can trade behind you. It didn’t look fancy, just precise timing and patience.

Honestly, in my games I struggle to replicate that. I try to place the smokes and resets, but I end up peeking too early or giving away my position. Sometimes I think the timing is everything and I don't have the same tempo.

One thing that stuck with me was how his team didn’t seem to need a full execute every time. It was like a small gap opened and he snapped it shut before they could flood in. I tried a similar thing once and got punished because I ignored a flank, so I dropped it.

Do you think the trick was more about the ult or just teammates feeding him space behind the smoke?
