Should I keep my monthly transit pass or switch to pay-as-you-go?

I’m trying to figure out if I should keep paying for my monthly transit pass. My commute changed to a hybrid schedule, and I’m only going into the office two or three days a week now, so I’m not sure if the flat monthly fee is still worth it compared to just loading pay-as-you-go fare onto my card.

I kept the monthly pass when my schedule flipped, but I found I was hardly using it on the days I worked from home.

I did a quick two weeks test, rode pay-as-you-go and logged every trip. It saved me money when I was in the office only two days a week.

If your employer or city offers transit subsidies, that can tilt the math.

Do you have a rough estimate of how many trips you’ll make per week to plug into a cost comparison?

I was torn for a while, left the pass on for a bit and paid per ride during busy weeks; it felt risky to rely on topping up.
