What adjustments help me capture that soft sunrise glow in my photos?

I’ve been trying to get better at capturing the subtle, soft light just after sunrise, but my shots keep coming out flat and muddy instead of having that gentle glow. I’m not sure if it’s my metering, my white balance, or if I just need to be more patient for the exact moment.

I kept chasing that exact moment and kept getting flat results I started bracketing a couple of frames and kept one frame a touch overexposed to preserve the glow It softened the light in the files and gave me something closer to what I saw with my eye

Maybe the issue is patience More often the gentle light shows up a minute later I try to hold a scene longer and only keep the frame when the color shifts a touch I shoot RAW and adjust white balance later to keep the feel

Could the real snag be the lens or weather not the meter I noticed that the glow vanished when the air was hazy and the lens filter was dirty It makes me doubt where the problem sits

One morning I wandered away from the prime spot and watched the water and the mist It shifted how the light landed I came back and tried again only to decide that the mood of the moment mattered more than a perfect setting
