What’s a fair price for a used honda civic ex with fees and condition?

I’m trying to figure out what a fair price is for a used 2018 Honda Civic EX I found at a local dealer. The listed price seems high compared to some online listings, but I’m not sure if those prices include all the fees or reflect the car’s specific condition.

I was looking at a 2018 EX last month. The online price looked lower, but when I asked for the out-the-door price the dealer tacked on a doc fee, a destination charge, and then taxes and plates. The gap narrowed a bit once I got a full breakdown in writing.

I tried to negotiate; they pushed a warranty add-on and some accessories, and the price barely moved. I walked away and checked a couple other lots, which helped me see what was realistic.

I bought a Civic EX a while back; the contrasts between online prices and what the dealer asked for were bigger than I expected. I used several dealers as a check and focused on out the door prices.

Do you think the real problem is the car itself or the way the price is presented?

I did a quick check on the car's condition after a test drive - tires, brakes, service history. It was decent, but nothing dramatic to justify a much higher price.

I'd suggest asking for an out-the-door quote and comparing it to peers offline to see if you're paying for something extra.
