What’s better for a personal knowledge base: Obsidian or Notion?
#1
I’m trying to decide between Obsidian and Notion for my personal knowledge base, but I’m stuck on the local files versus cloud dilemma. I really like having full control over my own markdown files in Obsidian, but I also need to access things easily from my phone and work computer.

Obsidian hooked me with local markdown files on my laptop and I kept the vault in a folder I own. I could open and edit without the internet and that felt freeing. On the phone I had to rely on a cloud sync and it never felt as seamless as a native app.

Notion is where I can reach everything from my phone and work computer without fuss. It streams online and offline mode is limited which is a drag when the internet dips.

Maybe the real problem is the workflow not the tool do you really need to own every file or would a solid cloud plus backups be enough?

I tried a mix of both and ended up annoyed by syncing snafus and app lag more than I expected. Still not sure which path is saving me time.
