What’s going wrong with my smart lights and robot vacuum automation?
#1
I’ve been trying to get my smart lights and robot vacuum to work together on a simple schedule, but the automation keeps failing halfway through. The scene is supposed to trigger the vacuum to start after the lights turn off in the morning, but it only works about half the time for no clear reason.

I tried a similar setup and it would fail randomly. The lights would go off and the vacuum never started. I think the problem was the hub getting two commands at once or a lag in the scene executing. I swapped to a simple one step rule in the hub and added a tiny delay before the vacuum so it could see the light off event properly.

Another time the automation stalled when the wifi hiccuped for a second. After that I stopped relying on the direct scene and used a timer based trigger plus a manual confirm step. It improved things a bit but I still had misses when the network dropped.

I found that the vacuum would start fine in the morning after a manual run but the scheduled run felt flaky. I kept notes on what happened and what device showed online. The pattern was never clear and I gave up chasing a clean answer for now.

Could the real issue be the wake state of the vacuum or the hub becoming unresponsive when the lights switch off and two devices try to act at once?
