What’s the best next spot to check for an EVAP leak on a Civic?

My 2016 Civic’s check engine light came on, and the code points to a small EVAP leak. I’ve checked the gas cap and it seems fine and tight. I’m wondering what the next most common spot is to look for a leak in that system without just throwing parts at it.

Yeah I chased a small EVAP leak on a 2016 Civic after that light came on and I’d already double checked the gas cap. The next spot I looked at was the rubber hose from the charcoal canister to the purge valve. Those hoses dry out and crack near the firewall. I found a split there and swapped in a new hose with proper clamps. The code cleared after a few drives.

Another common spot is the purge valve itself. The seals inside those little solenoids can fail and let a tiny amount of vacuum escape when the system tests run. If the hose check is clean, swapping the purge valve (the N80) helped for me, though I didn’t drive it long enough to call it a permanent fix.

I also checked the canister mounting and the lines to it; sometimes the canister cracks or the hoses rubbing on a bracket wear through. It’s rarer than loose hoses, but it has happened to someone I know, and you wouldn’t see it right at the gas cap.

Do you hear a faint hiss when the engine is running and the purge valve cycles?
