What’s the best way to beat the final boss in Ninja Gaiden (NES)?

I’ve been trying to beat the final boss in Ninja Gaiden on the NES for weeks now. I can get through the last stage consistently, but that cheap knockback into the pits during the Jaquio fight just feels impossible to manage without losing a life. I don’t know if I’m missing a specific pattern or if it really just comes down to pixel-perfect jumps every single time.

That final fight with Jaquio felt like the game wanted me to blink on the exact frame. I spent whole weekends chasing a single pixel of timing, and the pit knockback came just as I thought I had the rhythm. I stopped counting lives and tried to memorize the run up to the jump.

I tried counting frames and timing windows, but when the last moment arrives the game can feel random. One night I kept the nerves out of it, tried to ride the momentum, and still the pit got me on the escape after the third swing.

Are we sure the struggle is the real problem, or is it just nerves getting in the way at that moment?

I never nailed it, but a friend swore they got through after a long night by just letting go of perfection and accepting a touch of chaos; not sure if that helps, but it felt true for a moment.
