What’s the best way to charge an EV at an apartment with shared Level 2s?

I just got my first EV and I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle charging at my apartment complex. They have a few shared Level 2 stations, but I'm not sure if I should rely on those or try to work out a deal with my landlord to install a dedicated charger for my parking spot.

The shared Level 2 stations are handy when I’m around, but they’re usually crowded after work. I’ve charged overnight at a friend’s place when I could swing it, which is not ideal but it beats waiting.

When I asked my landlord about a dedicated charger for my spot, they quoted about $2.5k for a new outlet and panel work plus permit fees. It sounded steep, especially since I might move in a year or two.

Part of me wonders if the real issue isn’t the charger at all but the building’s electrical capacity or the HOA rules. A faster charger wouldn’t help if the panel is already maxed out.

We did a little trial by reserving time at the shared station for a month to see how it played with people’s schedules. It helped me gauge demand, but I didn’t feel confident committing to a long term setup yet.
