What’s the best way to go from one pull-up to two and build endurance?

I’ve been trying to build more upper body strength and finally managed my first real pull-up last week. Now I’m stuck because I can’t seem to link a second one together, and I’m not sure if I should just keep doing singles or switch to negatives to build that endurance.

Congrats on that first real lift. I remember the jump from one to two felt like it would never happen. I stuck with singles for a while and threw in slow negatives between sets. It was tiny progress, but it added up after a couple of weeks.

For me the sticking point was grip and shoulder control more than raw strength. I noticed my shoulders drifted and my grip loosened at the top, so I tried longer hangs and a focus on how the shoulder blades came together.

I tried doing a bunch of tiny sets with a pause at the bottom and a moment at the top when I could, just to feel the lockout. It helped a little, but I can't say it unlocked a real streak.

Do you think the issue is something else, like how often you train, or warmups? I kept circling back to schedule questions and never settled on a plan.
