What’s the best way to show client testimonials on our service page?

I’m trying to decide whether to include a dedicated section for client testimonials on our main service page, but I’m worried it might look staged or desperate. I’ve seen some competitors do it really well and it seems to build immediate trust, but for others it comes across as a bit forced. I’m not sure how to make that social proof feel authentic without undermining our professional reputation.

Last year we added a small testimonials block under the hero. It had three short quotes with names and roles, no photos. We kept it away from pricing and put it in a single row. It felt awkward at first but over a few weeks people lingered a bit longer on that spot and we got a couple of inquiries that referenced the quotes. Hard to tell if it moved the needle but it did not hurt

From a design angle I treat trust signals like any other element on the page I keep the copy real use actual client names and logos if the client agrees and I attach a short case snippet Short quotes work better than long ones a video clip can feel more authentic if you can pull it off If the section looks too polished it lands wrong.

We tried testimonials but the quotes felt staged We did get some nice responses but it pulled attention away from the core service bullets We removed the block and swapped in three mini case studies with metrics that felt more credible It was a time sink to collect them and some clients declined

I keep wondering if the real issue is not trust signals but clarity of value We did a quick audit and the hero copy did not land the testimonials looked shiny but the core message stayed murky If you lean toward a dedicated section maybe test a hybrid with micro proof near each service bullet or a small case study panel What if the real problem is the copy not the proof?
