What’s the central conflict in the sci-fi trailer: first contact or civil war?

I just saw the first trailer for the new sci-fi epic and I’m genuinely confused about what the central conflict even is. The visuals are stunning, but the quick cuts between the alien landscapes and the human outposts left me wondering if the story is about first contact or a civil war.

Totally felt that. The trailer throws alien vistas at you and a human outpost, but the main clash stays buried in the edits.

I watched it twice. First I thought it was first contact, then you hear hints of loyalties and power plays among the humans—so maybe both.

There’s a briefing scene where someone hints at choosing a deal or a consequence, and then a hint of mutiny. Could be internal conflict.

The visuals are stunning, but I kept waiting for a moment that pins down the goal—save a planet, save a species, or save face.

I kept scanning for a clear protagonist, and the trailer kept flipping between a diplomat and a soldier.

I kept getting pulled by the mood and the score, like they want you to feel something before you know what’s happening. The visuals brew atmosphere more than a plot point, but I still want to know what the actual clash is.

Maybe the conflict isn’t a war at all but a test: who gets to decide what contact looks like when two worlds touch.
