What’s the etiquette for charging at apartment EV stations?
#1
I just got my first EV and I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle charging at my apartment complex. They have a few shared stations, but the etiquette seems unclear—how long is too long to leave your car plugged in after it’s full? I don’t want to be that person who blocks the spot.

In my complex, the unspoken rule is unplug as soon as the charge indicator says full and move your car if someone is waiting. If no one’s around and you’re just topping off, people usually give it about 15 to 30 minutes max before someone else shows up. No one wants to hog the stall.

I tried leaving it for an hour once, and felt every minute that I was being that person. The line filled up and it stressed me out.

Is there an actual posted policy or do people just do what they think is fair?

I started using slower charging at night to save energy, then I try to unplug right after it completes so I’m not trapped there. If you’re commuting all day, it’s rough.
