What’s the link between Crohn's and joint pain?
#1
I’ve been managing my Crohn’s for years, but lately I’m noticing my joint pain flares up almost in sync with my gut symptoms. My rheumatologist mentioned this could be related to extraintestinal manifestations, but it’s confusing because treating one system doesn’t always calm the other.

I've been there. The joint pain started showing up right when my Crohn's acted up. It felt like a separate alarm that rings with the gut flare.

The rheum folks mentioned extraintestinal manifestations, and I tried keeping logs of meals, symptoms, meds, sleep. After a few cycles, my GI tweaked the biologic dose and the two flares sometimes moved in the same direction, but it never fully synced.

I wonder if the problem is really two separate flares that rhyme, or if one trigger is pulling the other?

I did a short stretch of PT and used heat packs between visits. It bought me a day or two, then the gut was back at it.
