What’s the real value of a governance token vs the hype?

I’m trying to figure out if my project really needs a token or if I’m just getting caught up in the hype. I see the utility it could provide for governance, but I’m worried the regulatory overhead and the sheer complexity of launching it properly might outweigh the benefits for our early-stage platform.
