What’s up with Vincent Price on the Muppet Show: original or edited?
#1
I was trying to show my kids the old Muppet Show episode with Vincent Price, but the streaming version had some of the musical numbers cut. It got me wondering, how many of these classic shows are we actually getting in their original form, or are we just watching edited shadows?

That Vincent Price episode on the Muppet Show sticks out to me too. The streaming copy I saw had the big musical number cut, and it made the whole thing feel thinner. It makes you wonder how many classics are actually in their original form.

From what I've gathered, it's not just that episode—rights, music clearances, and runtime limits push platforms to trim stuff. A lot of older variety shows ended up with edited versions.

I did find a few old VHS rips where the numbers were intact, but the picture quality was rough. That gut reaction is nostalgia more than fidelity.

We once bought a DVD set hoping for the full performances, and a couple of numbers were dialed down; it was like listening to a song with half the chorus.

A friend claimed some numbers were cut to fit a family-friendly rating or to avoid kids being scared by some of Price's lines.

Is this really the real problem, or do you think the goal should be just sharing the vibe, regardless of the cuts?
