What am I missing to grow an audience for my educational art videos?

I work with a lot of new couples who are just starting their relationships, and I'm always looking for effective relationship building tips to share with them. The early stages are so important for setting a strong foundation.

Some relationship building tips I often recommend include establishing good communication habits from the beginning, creating shared experiences and traditions, and learning how to navigate conflicts in healthy ways. It's also important to maintain individual friendships and interests.

What are your best relationship building tips? I'm particularly interested in advice for couples in the first year of their relationship.

I’ve been trying to build a consistent audience for my educational art videos, but my subscriber count has been stuck for months. I’m putting in the work, but I can’t figure out what’s missing to get that initial traction and actually start growing.

I did something similar last year. I was posting every week and nothing changed in the subscriber count. I tried changing thumbnails to brighter colors and tighter titles, and I tweaked video length, but the numbers stayed stubbornly flat for months. I kept at it because the work felt meaningful, not because the growth was there.

I feel like I chased trends for a while, then pulled back. I worried about tags and captions more than the actual lesson, and I still didn’t see real movement. It wore me out and I started questioning whether I was working on the right thing.

When I looked at the data, the click-through rate on thumbnails stayed around 2 to 3 percent and watch time rarely cleared two minutes. That read to me that the problem isn’t just reach, it’s the hook at the top and how the algorithm decides who actually stays.

I once got stuck worrying about color grading and fancy editing, then sidetracked into trying a collab with another artist. It felt chaotic and the view counts barely moved. Back to the core: maybe the issue isn’t polish but whether the topic consistently resonates.

Do you think the real bottleneck is discovery?

I tried adding a weekly live Q&A after a video drop and asked viewers to bring questions. We got a few new subscribers from that, but the bump faded after a couple weeks.

Same struggle here. Maybe it’s the niche or the timing, or something else we’re missing.
